My Sassy Girl the Movie

Reading Annabanana blog about her favorite movie made me want to share my all time favorite movie - My Sassy Girl.

The first time I watched this comedy, chick-flick type movie was way back in 2002. I liked it so much that I sent a copy to Anabel, whom I was trying to court at the time, and who is now my wife. The movie has an interesting mix of character and philosophical message which dwells on love, relationships, past hurts and living in the past - definitely much deeper than the mindless chick-flicks that Hollywood seems to be churning out now-a-days. Besides this, we enjoy the movie and it holds so many fond memories that we would readily recommend it to our friends whenever we can.

My Sassy Girl (Yeopgijeogin geunyeo in Korean) is based on a true story. Its about a guy, named Kyun-Woo who one night meets a terribly drunken girl (The Girl) at a trainstation. He saves her life and for the rest of the movie, endures her outbursts and wild behaviour. Here a quote I like, but you really have to watch the scene to get the gist of it.

The Girl: What do you want to order?

Kyun-woo: Cherry Jubilee... wait... I'll have Mango Tango... or Shooting Star... Jamonka Almond sounds good too... Okay, I'll just have Love Me.

The Girl: Wanna die? Drink coffee!
