To Ultrasound or Not to Ultrasound

My dilema this week was deciding whether to go ahead and find out the results of the ultrasound or not. Its the great question every parent anticipates - will it be a boy or a girl? My initial thoughts was to find out after the baby is born and not before. All the while, I was praying for a boy. Ana on the other hand wanted to give "it" a name and start preparing for babys arrival. Quite frankly she didn't really want to wait. At first I put my foot down and said "no", "no" ... and a further many more no's! But, after much cajoling and a thorougher discussion on the sensibilities of preparing for your first born, I gave in. I guess we can always find out the ol' fashion way with our second baby.

Anyway the OB did a check, and to my surprise ... declared it to be a baby girl : O Really? I wasn't expecting a girl! There must be a mistake? Check it again! Better still triple check it? Alas, they did and officially declared it to be a baby girl. I must admit, my heart sank; no matter what you may wish for, you can't really control the outcome of these things. Wheter its a boy or girl, its still one of Gods greatest gifts, and I wasn't going to argue with Him what he thinks to be best. Boy or girl, Its an exhilarating experience to know that I'll be a dad in the not to distant future!
